At Mt. Tabor this is the season of Pentecost. We are spending 6 weeks of learning about Holy Spirit. The third person of the Trinity often gets short shrift, so we are pausing the cycle of the seasons to welcome the Holy Spirit in our lives. Join us in the prayer to the Holy Spirit:
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in us the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and we shall be created and you shall renew the face of the earth.
On Sunday, July 16, we will be talking about spiritual gifts. Have you ever done a study of yourself? Have you tried to find out your personality type, or spiritual gift, or tried to find yourself in the Enneagram? I am encouraging us all to do a little homework on ourselves this week.
There are many different inventory/tests online. Here are a few, which seemed to make sense to me. And, remember that tests are neither perfect, nor complete. After you get your “results” check in with yourself in prayer – Is it accurate? Is this you? Is there something you would identify as your gift which isn’t on the list (who says a list of gifts can limit the Holy Spirit!)? When you work within your gifts and your personality style, the work is energizing, renewing and satisfying (most of the time), rather than burnout-worthy. Do some journaling in response to your experience with the “tests” and wonder what the Spirit is working in you right now. Is there something you are being called to do?

*Beyond the Spiritual Gifts Inventories, try comparing them to some personality inventories, like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, or the Enneagram.
Myers-Briggs:

Enneagram are especially useful, I think.

*And remember not to let any of these limit what the Spirit might be up to in your life.
May you be blessed in your adventure with the Spirit this week!
