TABORSPACE is a community outreach to the Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church area in Portland, Oregon developed in partnership with community individuals. Rev. Carley Friesen says they discovered that instead of programming, people desired, foremost, space including a community living room. Besides training baristas in their coffee shop, they have programs for training office managers and they open up their Parish House for community programs referred to as Parish Partners. Tabor Space employs its own program director and dozens of individuals use the space weekly, including those who attend their children’s concerts.
